The three European Supervisory Authorities (EBA, EIOPA, and ESMA) have published a fact sheet with the title: «Investments, loans, insurances, or pensions with sustainable characteristics: what to know?», addressing the main questions brought by consumers regarding sustainable finance.
The purpose of the fact sheet is to provide guidance to consumers considering purchasing financial products with sustainability characteristics.
Additionally, ESAs offer the following practical advice to consider before selecting financial products with sustainability characteristics:
- Establish how important sustainability is for the consumer and what financial goals the consumer aims to achieve;
- Pay attention to the terms and sustainability features;
- Remember that sustainable financial products are not without risks;
- Carefully evaluate the single investment and life insurance policy.
